Dead Good Cinema presents INTERSTELLAR

Join us for a @deadgoodcinema community screening of the cinematic blockbuster Interstellar!
“We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt.”
Set in a dystopian future where Earth is dying from crop blight and dust storms, Interstellar follows ex-NASA pilot Joseph Cooper, who leaves his children to pilot a spaceship through a wormhole near Saturn. His goal is to find a new habitable planet and save humanity before it goes extinct.
The event will be held at The Wanstead Curtain in Hermon Hill, Wanstead.
Tickets: £5 + booking fee (£1.13)
Tim Sanders – London Scrawling
Artist in Residence - August 2026
A local artist who has been sketching moments from London life as he travels around the city.
“On the Underground and in the woods, gardens, parks and streets, London is a place is full of animals. Human and others. I like making drawings of them.”
Tim has worked for many years for a wide range of publications as a cartoonist and illustrator.
Tim has also worked as a ‘reportage’ illustrator producing drawings on site in the UK, China and Mexico. He has made three trips to the West Bank in Palestine as artist in residence with visiting delegations which have resulted in several exhibitions.
He has just completed a mural in Tilbury Street next to Leyton Midland Road overground
station.

A Peak Behind The Curtain

Join us on a tour of the prestigious City of London Cemetery, followed by a tour of Compassionate Funerals.
The tour will start at Compassionate Funerals, where you will take our minibus to the cemetery, visiting the Church, Catacombs and Cemetery, followed by a tour of our funeral home, lunch and an informal Q&A.
The tour will give you an insight into the mechanics of funerals, deepen your understanding of the choices available and the opportunity to have all your questions answered.

Lara Tremayne - Artist in Residence Private View
1st July 2026, 6.30pm-8.30pm
"I’ve felt a compulsion since 2009 to photograph chairs, chairs seemingly randomly placed, well actually more that they were in unexpected places, that they took me by surprise. Chairs that had some type of quality about them, a personality, a presence. Although unexpected there was always something very natural and relaxed about their placement, not contrived. Like they were all at home. Presence in the absence."
Lara will be exhibiting some of the works from this series at Compassionate Funerals throughout July.
Dead Good Cinema presents PRIDE

As part of pride month this year, we are hosting a workshop where we will support you in making your own zines with materials provided. After this we will be screening the 2014 historical comedy-drama ‘Pride’.
All profits will go towards Positive East, a London based HIV charity providing support and prevention services including counselling, workshops and sexual health advice.
The event will be held at The Wanstead Curtain in Hermon Hill, Wanstead.

As part of our continual programme of events to promote conversations around death, dying & bereavement, we are hosting the cult movie Harold & Maude at The Wanstead Curtain E11 2AR.
All monies raised from ticket sales and the bar are for the charity Let’s Discuss Death – a fantastic charity encouraging open conversations about dying, death, and grief.
Bernie Clarkson - Artist in Residence Private View
